Upgrade the features in an IPm controller or RTU by simply installing a firmware “bundle”. Even the Linux core will be kept up to date with this automated process. OEMs may create “tar” files which include scripts to seamlessly install their applications. Firmware bundles can also be created in Windows using a standard .zip file. (The I/O Tool Kit will unpack the archive and sequentially load its contents.)
