RoHS
is the European Union directive for the Restriction
of Hazardous Substances.
It was created in response to environmental and health concerns
related to the various substances listed below. The RoHS
Directive 2002/95/EC
states:
"Member
States shall ensure that, from 1 July 2006, new electrical and
electronic equipment put on the market does not contain lead,
mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls
(PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)."
This directive
applies to electrical/electronic equipment, and their component
parts, sold into the European Union. Similar restrictions are
also expected to be enacted in other countries (China, Japan,
etc.) and US states (California) very soon as well.
However, in
general, monitoring and control equipment such as those manufactured
by SIXNET are currently exempt from the RoHS directive. Though
this is the case, SIXNET is still voluntarily committed to making
many of our industrial products compliant. SIXNET has collaborated
with our circuit board vendors, component suppliers and contract
manufacturers to design, convert or produce RoHS compliant products.
All the products listed below that are manufactured after 1 July,
2006 and marked "RoHS Compliant" are compliant with
the RoHS directive:
