| Scalable
architecture grows gracefully
|
| Your
SCS solutions can start small and grow as your requirements develop.
Build a small pilot project and let the results speak for themselves.
Its easy to use an SCS solution as an add on to an existing automation
system. SIXNET provides the means to let your system evolve gracefully.
You don’t need to throw out your existing mature systems, just upgrade
them in a manner that best suits your plans. |
|
| Modular
components – just the pieces you need |
| SCS
systems are made up of functional hardware and software modules
that form the building blocks of automation systems. Hardware modules
include I/O, controllers,
power supplies,
Ethernet Switches, surge
protectors, modems
and thousands of other DIN rail mounted components from hundreds
of suppliers. SCS software is modular also. Add ISaGRAF
programs to controllers as best suits your needs. SCADA nodes
and operator interfaces can be added
one at a time. (In fact, with the new IPm products you can
even connect pieces over the Internet.) SCS modularity makes SCS
solutions “Scalable”. |

| Pre-integrated
to save you time and money |
| In
the past, you had two choices. A turnkey supplier could design and
install a system for you. This option was convenient, but generally
an expensive alternative. The second option was to purchase the
hardware and software components and integrate them yourself. With
this alternative, the headaches all fell on your shoulders and it
is questionable just how much money you really saved when you add
up all the time you spent getting the system running.
Scalable
Control Systems offer a third attractive alternative – a pre-integrated
solution that is a combination of the best hardware and software
to meet your requirements. SCS gives you the ability to purchase
an integrated solution – one in which the pieces fit together
seamlessly – for just the price of its components.

| Open
standards eliminate risks |
| There
are all kinds of risks involved with integrating a system and then
keeping it running efficiently for many years. First, there is the
risk of the pieces not fitting together seamlessly. Open communications
standards certainly minimize that hazard. Next, there is the “I
need one more feature” syndrome. As good as any piece of equipment
is, there can always be a benefit to adding a specialized device
from another supplier. Open standards give you the ability to mix
and match pieces – to add the special performance that the other
supplier of open equipment provides – for that special situation.
Finally, there is the risk of obsolescence as the years go by. Open
standards give you an out in this case too. It is almost inconceivable
that Modbus compatible I/O will not be available for decades to
come. The safe way to eliminate risks in software is to look towards
the wide open LINUX tools that are now available. LINUX is an adaptation
of UNIX, its been around for decades. It is growing in popularity,
and if all else fails, you have the unique ability to make changes
in the software to alter it to suit your changing needs. (You can’t
do that with a PLC or proprietary process controller!) |

| High
performance – SCS solutions are state-of-the-art technology
|
| SIXNET
has long been a leader in providing innovative technology to the
automation industry. Our carefully planned technology provides ever-increasing
performance while maintaining the maturity of design that is essential
to reliable systems. |
| |
| Low
cost – for all of the above reasons |
| When
millions of people all turn to the same products, quality increases
and cost tumble (through volume production and competitive pressure).
When you select Ethernet networking, Modbus communications, DIN
rail mounted hardware and LINUX software solutions, you are not
only reducing costs, you are making your job easier! |
