 Private Labeling Guidelines

OEM Solutions
LINUX for OEMs

SIXNET has greatly simplified the process of “badging” products to minimize costs and reduce inventory for our OEMs who need to apply their own labeling on SIXNET products. (Back to Private Labeling Benefits)

Creating OEM Labels
SIXNET will assist OEMs in the creation of label artwork. Please note that fees for design time may apply. Also, SIXNET will only manufacture product using labels that are supplied by an approved printing vendor. We apologize that we cannot accept customer supplied labels. See below for details on the different types of labels.

Front (Main) Labels: Front panel labels on SIXNET products are reverse printed on the backside of Lexan for maximum durability and maintenance of the excellent flammability and safety rating of SIXNET products. There are basically two types of labels. I/O modules have “slip in” labels that sandwich between the two halves of the module casing. These optionally can be a single piece Lexan label, or they can be a paper label that is sandwiched between a clear (outside for protection) and red (inside for LED lens) layer of polycarbonate plastic. The latter can be printed by yourself on a standard printer. If you wish to create your own labels for small quantity requirements, SIXNET will gladly supply the clear and red plastic lens for your use. This self-service approach requires no special permission from SIXNET and no added fees.

Labels adhered to the face of products such as modems, Ethernet Switches and controllers, must be printed on a durable material. Paper labels will not comply with established requirements such as CE. For these labels and for higher volume I/O module products, SIXNET will procure pre-printed Lexan labels for OEM customers at our direct purchase cost. (We do not mark up this cost.) We do ask however, that this cost be pre-paid for the quantity of labels that you wish to print. Generally, it is most economical to print a significant quantity of labels (plan ahead) since most of the costs are tooling costs and set-up rather than unit costs of the individual labels. The printing cost for an OEM label, complete with tooling and setup costs typically is US$800 to US$1200. The cost varies with the particular product and the complexity of the artwork (more colors – higher cost). Usually the labels are printed as several images to a panel, so if you are creating multiple labels of the same size and shape (example, several different I/O modules), then four labels can be printed for almost the cost of one.

Ratings (Rear) or Module Door (Wiring Guide) Labels:
These labels are generally one color (black on white) or two colors (black on gray) and are printed on a coated label stock. The typical printing cost for 500 or 1000 piece spools of these labels costs around US$100. SIXNET maintains requirements for manufacturing data on these labels. Customer supplied artwork is subject to SIXNET approval.

Minimum Quantity

The minimum quantity of any one private labeled product that may be ordered for delivery in a single batch is ten. This low quantity is made possible by the flexible manufacturing system at SIXNET. Of course, we will accommodate requests for smaller quantities of prototypes on a one-time basis.

Product Certifications

OEM customers are welcome to use the product testing and certification documents that you find on the SIXNET CD or web site to support your own certification efforts. Many certifications are “self-declared” and in some cases, such as UL and CSA, cross-listings of your part numbers on otherwise unmodified SIXNET products may be arranged for a modest fee. In any event, decisions of which regulatory agencies and certifications is at the discretion of each OEM.

Please Visit SIXNET. The only thing that is more impressive than our products is the people who created them. We love to brainstorm with OEMs. A face-to-face meeting with the SIXNET team is the best way to start a great Partnership.
