 SIXNET Datalog Server
SIXNET offers the ability to gather time stamped data in remote locations and easily transfer these data records to your central database, or SCADA system over an Ethernet, telephone or wireless link.

At each remote location a RemoteLog or VersaTRAK IPm RTU collects real-time data and stores it with a time stamp in its protected memory. (Data is not lost if there is a power failure.)

Then, at intervals you select, these time stamped data records are transferred to your central database. This client initiated data transfer offers important advantages over traditional polling methods, including safe passage of data through firewalls, fast response of a “report on exception” system, and the ability to use DHCP protocol to avoid the need to assign permanent IP addresses to each station. (Static IP addresses can be expensive or simply not available.)

At the central host, the SIXNET Datalog Server software receives the data records from the remote dataloggers and passes it to your data storage system. For critical archiving requirements, two servers can be run in parallel, and the clients can be instructed to transfer the data to these redundant servers.

Client Initiated Transfers - Retrieve Data WITHOUT Polling!

Redundant Datalogging - Never Lose Important Data Again!

There are two common ways to use this versatile software:
  1. Off-the-Shelf Solutions
For data archiving systems, log files are automatically created to store the historical data. Organized by location and date, you can easily view the data with Microsoft Excel or any other software that can read a text file. This simple and low cost solution will replace your legacy chart recorders with a modern computer solution.

  2. Adapt To Your Own Software
This server software will also format the received data for upload to your central database. Data is stored until your system, acting as the master, retrieves it. The source code for the server interface is available to give you full control over the interface. If you are using an operating system other than Windows, or if you have special requirements, the source code for the interface to this server may be purchased from SIXNET to enable you to meet your requirements.  The source code for the Datalog Server is available to our OEM customers (contact us for details).

The Datalog Server software is bundled with the datalogging option for the SIXNET I/O Tool Kit. Merely install the latest version of the I/O Tool Kit from the SIXNET CD and the server will be installed automatically. Existing Tool Kit licenses that include the datalogging option will run this new server with no additional considerations.
