Ethernet-to-Serial
Converter Inside
The EtherTRAK-2 I/O incorporates a Ethernet-to-serial converter,
allowing passing of one user-selected protocol from Ethernet to
slave
devices connected to a serial port and passing of responses
to
messages back to the master in a non-altering manner. This powerful
capability opens a communications “gateway”, allowing
you
to consolidate dissimilar devices and expand your control system.

I/O Concentrator for Expansion
EtherTRAK-2 modules include a flexible
I/O concentrator that can
poll additional Modbus and SIXNET I/O devices – including
additional EtherTRAK-2 I/O Modules. This powerful feature permits
you
to mix and match I/O devices and interface to existing legacy
systems.
This I/O master eliminates costly
external gateways
and gives you
great design flexibility.

Interesting
ways to use this capability include: |
- Poll additional
Modbus serial devices
- Interface
serial I/O to Ethernet
- Connect
multiple I/O devices to a single radio
- Improve
polling times by consolidating I/O
- Poll and
store up to 512 I/O registers in each module
- Create redundant
systems with multiple EtherTRAK-2 masters
- Configure
multiple I/O Modules to poll the same I/O for redundant reporting

Use
the I/O concentrator feature to interface serial I/O devices
to a modern Ethernet system (above), or to a single radio or
modem (below).
