Why
an Industrial Telephone Modem?
SIXNET industrial
telephone modems are designed to take the punishment that comes
with operation in an industrial environment. Their rugged packaging
and protected circuitry keep them working under conditions that
may cause office-grade modems to fail. Ordinary modems are designed
to be cheap. Frankly, you don't need surge suppressors and power
conditioners in most office or home installations. But industrial
applications are demanding - it gets hot, it gets cold - the power
browns out or spikes wildly - and you need a modem that can keep
on going. SIXNETs industrial telephone modem is that modem.
Perfect for Rugged
Environments
SIXNET industrial
telephone modems are the perfect communication link to the most
remote devices or off-site PLCs.
These modems operate between -30°
and 70°C and can stand up to the worst conditions while still
reliably bridging your communications gap.
Versatile and Compatible
SIXNET industrial
modems are designed for true plug-and-play operation with any
system: SIXTRAK "Programmable I/O for Windows", VersaTRAK
Remote Terminal Units, RemoteTRAK "Remote I/O" – or
any other PLC or controller.
They are fully compatible with any other Windows software. (All
SIXNET Windows software is modem-ready and secure.)
Using Windows software, users can connect to any device with an
RS232 port. If connecting to SIXTRAK or VersaTRAK devices, users
can dial out and retrieve datalog files and data registers and
import those files into any Windows application. Users can even
dial into their plant equipment and perform diagnostics right
over the phone without ever leaving the office.
Convenient Mounting
and Power
Since SIXNET
industrial modems are powered by a 10-30 VDC source (VT-MODEM-1
& -2) or 10-52 VDC source (VT-MODEM-3) in any industrial enclosure,
it is no longer necessary to take up valuable space with a cumbersome
AC adapter in the control cabinet. The modem can either be panel
or DIN rail mounted as required.
Industrial Modems
Can Take the Heat (and not leave you in the cold)
SIXNET industrial
modems are tested to keep working reliably in confined enclosures
on a hot day or outdoors in the dead of winter. Unlike ordinary
modems that are intended only for use in air conditioned offices
and other comfortable people places, SIXNET industrial modems
are designed for those automated places that you don't want to
be - over the extreme temperature range of -30°
and 70°C.
Forget the Velcro
and Makeshift Brackets
SIXNET industrial
modems can be DIN rail mounted or screwed directly to any flat
surface. Their compact footprint fits easily into equipment-filled
enclosures.
Lose Those Bulky Power
Transformers
SIXNET industrial
modems run directly on the DC power that you already have in your
control cabinet (any voltage from 10 to 30 VDC). You no longer
need cumbersome AC sockets for those transformers that constantly
become unplugged. Because AC power is not used, there is no longer
any safety issues. If you ship your equipment internationally,
you can forget about the headaches caused by different line voltages
and incompatible power plugs.
Stop Redesigning Your
OEM Products
Have you ever
designed and qualified a first system only to find that when you
need to build additional units, the modem you used is no longer
available. This won't happen with a SIXNET industrial modem. SIXNET
guarantees availability of these modems for a minimum of five
years. These long-life industrial products are an OEM's dream.
PC Software Compatibility
Guaranteed
SIXNET industrial
modems contain an industrial version of the same modem chip-set
found in PC internal modems. They support the full set of modem
(AT) commands, protocols and operating features. SIXNET modems
are 100% Windows software ready. Check out our specifications
and technical documentation.
