Redundant DCS Controllers or RTUs

SIXNET's IPm Controllers or RTUs can be easily setup to provide automatic transfer of “output control” from from one unit to the other if a controller fails. The I/O in this setup can be any combination of EtherTRAK and/or RemoteTRAK I/O modules, or SIXNET gateways with many SixTRAK I/O modules attached. Each controller uses its own watchdog feature to monitor a “heartbeat” pulse generated by the opposite controller. If the primary unit’s heartbeat stops pulsing, the secondary controller takes over control of the outputs in the system, and vice versa. Sequential Function Charts (SFC) in ISaGRAF can be easily programmed to commence execution in the secondary upon failure of the primary.
