Redundant
Ethernet Communication
The
SixTRAK IPm (Open DCS Controller) offers
two unique Ethernet network ports. Each port has its own unique
MAC address and a settable IP address. This allows the SixTRAK IPm
to be connected to two separate Ethernet networks, providing redundant
communication pathways to a host or supervisory computer. To provide
complete Ethernet communication redundancy, the two Ethernet networks
can continue on to an ET-GT-ST-3 (Redundant
I/O Controller). The SixTRAK IPm would be configured with “primary”
and “backup” I/O transfers
that utilize one Ethernet network or the other at any given time.
