SixTRAK
I/O Controller & RTU
|
|
| The
SixTRAK I/O Controller (ST-GT-1210) can run an ISaGRAF IEC 61131-3
program, perform datalogging, and interface to thousands of I/O,
all in real-time. Select this unit when you need a reliable way
to control or monitor Ethernet, RS485, or local I/O, and then
connect to a supervisory computer. It is perfectly suited for
most control and data acquisition applications where some PLC-style
programming is required. (This one I/O controller replaces most
of SIXNET’s legacy programmable SixTRAK I/O gateways). |

| ST-GT-1210
Selection and Application Notes:
The ST-GT-1210 was created for both end users and
OEMs. It serves each of these classes of customers in its
own special way.
End Users:
There are many end users that want the flexibility
and feature-rich capabilities of a SIXNET controller at a "budget"
price. These customers have no immediate intention of altering
the firmware inside or accessing the Linux capabilities in any
way (options available in Linux IPm products).
For these users, the ST-GT-1210 is a reduced price open controller
or RTU, complete with ISaGRAF, Sixlog, Modbus, Ethernet connectivity
- the whole suite of standard SIXNET features. Because the
ST-GT-1210 has the same engine "under the hood" as our
IPm models, users get the same processing
power as the IPm units— but without the many customization
options available in Linux IPm products (although software can
be loaded into the ST-GT-1210 to upgrade firmware versions).
OEMs:
Many OEMs have selected the ST-GT-1210 for their applications
based upon its attractive price and the adequacy of its two serial
ports for their application. OEMs may load their application
programs and I/O drivers into the ST-GT-1210 without any changes
to its firmware.
The SIXNET I/O Tool Kit's file loading
capabilities allow OEMs to easily load their applications into
the ST-GT-1210. No knowledge of Linux or special firmware
is required. To develop your applications, it is convenient to
have capabilities such as FTP, telnet, etc. For this reason,
we recommend using a VT-IPM as a development
platform for your application. This high-end platform provides:
extra serial ports (useful for development); the full suite of
Linux tools; and it is licensed and supported for Linux development
(which the ST-GT-1210 is not).
The VT-IPm and the ST-GT1210 are 100% application compatible!
You may think of the VT-IPm as an application development
platform and the ST-GT-1210 as an application run-time platform.
