ET-GT-ST-1 Usage Tips
Note: This product is now obsolete and has been replaced by the ET-GT-ST-2.
This gateway is used to connect stations, with moderate to large amounts of SixTRAK I/O, to Ethernet. For small stations you can use an EtherTRAK I/O module. Stations of more than 16 or 32 channels are better handled with a combination of this gateway and SixTRAK modules. Only one Ethernet 10BaseT tap is needed to connect up to 1024 SixTRAK I/O points.
The Ethernet port will respond to Modbus or SIXNET protocol. There is also an RS232 port for configuration and diagnostics or as an alternative means of accessing the I/O. The Ethernet port and the RS232 port can be used simultaneously.
Use the Control Room IOmap functionality in the optional SCS feature set of the SIXNET I/O Tool Kit software when you are interfacing to purely SIXNET stations. The Control Room uses the SIXNET protocol over Ethernet. The gateway polls the SixTRAK modules and makes the I/O available to requests from the Control Room IOmap.
Use the Modbus OPC Server or the Modbus/TCP driver in your HMI or SCADA software when you are interfacing to Modbus devices or SIXNET stations configured for Modbus.
