ET-8CNT Usage Tips

¢

Each input channel may be individually configured for any of these functions:

Simple pulse accumulation (counting)

Direct rate measurement (for flow rate, conveyor speed, etc)

Up/down counting (32-bit signed result)

Position (connection to a quadrature encoder)

Discrete input (don’t waste extra channels)

¢

Run input signals in twisted pairs of wires for best noise immunity. For best differential noise rejection, do not connect screw terminals together at the I/O base.

¢

Unused input channels can be configured as discrete inputs.

¢

Use two adjacent input channels to report both total accumulated counts and count rate.

Note:

Up/down counting and position measurement modes require two input signals and therefore utilize two counter channels.
