RM-16DI2 Usage Tips

High density inputs offer the lowest cost per channel because they provide twice as many inputs per module as the eight channel module. In exchange for the added number channels, you sacrifice several features:

¢

High density modules only provide a single screw terminal per input. Return wiring must be provided with external terminals.

¢

High density input modules do not provide isolation between channels. All inputs return to a common ground.

¢

High density modules do not provide pulse counters. Use the eight channel modules if counters are needed.

Typical Application:

The high density input module is an ideal interface for control panel switches which are wired to the same power supply as the RemoteTRAK module. Typically, power is bussed to one side of each switch and a single wire is run to the input module. The high density module is recommended in this application, even if there are less than eight inputs, to provide for future expansion.
