The field wiring base provides two consecutive screw terminals for each field device. It is used in situations that connect all eight I/O channels to a common power source. All of the even numbered terminals on a field wiring base are connected to one side of the power line.
Terminals 17 and 18 are usually connected to a user designated power supply on field wiring bases.
