Each module base is keyed to prevent an improper module from being inserted. This prevents damage from incompatible wiring or high voltage and ensures compatibility with your intended I/O configuration.
Four recesses are located in each of the four corners of the base, and corresponding breakaway tabs protrude from the module. On each module, one of four tabs is broken off on each corner, and the corresponding recess is plugged on the base.
