Citect Datalog Server
The Citect Datalog Server backs up your Citect HMI application by accepting client data from SIXNET stations and automatically "filling in" the missing data in your Citect trend history files after a communication loss or computer / Citect shutdown. This server can also write to Citect trend history files on a regularly scheduled basis or after any user-determined event.
The Citect Datalog Server runs in the background and monitors your computer’s Ethernet ports and serial ports of your choice for client initiated datalog messages sent from IPm-based or RemoteLog model SIXNET stations. After client datalog messages are received, the logged data in those messages is copied into the Citect trend history files that are created and maintained by your Citect project.
When a client SIXNET station transmits logged data to the computer, the Citect Datalog Server receives and acknowledges the messages and optionally synchronizes the station’s clock with the computer’s time of day clock. Each tag’s received data is stored in temporary data files until just after the data copy is processed.
The type of communication media in your system will determine which of this server’s capabilities can be used.
With Ethernet communication (both direct wiring and wireless radios) Citect can run its SxDirect driver for SIXNET I/O and perform real-time updates of the SIXNET stations in the system. At the same time, a SIXNET station can use a client transfer to send its logged data to your computer.
With serial port communication, Citect must only receive logged data from the Citect Datalog Server. The SxDirect driver cannot be run at the same time as the Citect Datalog Server.

SIXNET-supplied Cicode places the client data into the Citect trend files. Just insert a copy of this Cicode "as-is" into your Citect project and recompile. No additional Cicode is required for basic operation. |
