VersaTRAK and Mini-VersaTRAK Usage Tips

When to Select the 1 or 2 Megabyte Memory Options (-44P or –54P):

¢

Datalogging (750K of datalogging memory can store 375,000 analog values)

¢

File storage (archive your ISaGRAF program files right in the VersaTRAK / Mini-VersaTRAK RTU so you can always find the current version when you need it)

¢

Additional dynamic memory for running large ISaGRAF programs

How Much Datalogged Information Can be Stored?

Each Sixlog file is allocated a fixed amount of memory. Each record typically contains a time stamp (4 bytes), analog values (2 bytes each), and discrete values (8 per byte). The size of the record is automatically computed and displayed for you by the Sixlog software. The overall storage time (until the oldest data in a full file is overwritten by new data) is computed as:

Longest storage = (file size) x (capture interval) / (bytes per record)

Example:

16 analog values plus a time stamp are logged every 5 minutes into a 512K file.

Oldest data = 512,000 (approx) x 5 minutes / 36 bytes /record = 71,111 Minutes (49 days)

By default, the -24P VersaTRAK models have 128K, the -44P models have 750K, and the –54P models have 1750K available for datalogging.

Adding a Few More I/O Points to a VersaTRAK / Mini-VersaTRAK RTU

Up to eight additional discrete I/O points can be economically added to a VersaTRAK or Mini-VersaTRAK using a VT-PB8.

Compatibility with SixTRAK

There is 100% compatibility between VersaTRAK / Mini-VersaTRAK RTUs and all SixTRAK products. Some highlights:

¢

A VersaTRAK / Mini-VersaTRAK RTU and a SixTRAK gateway contain the identical CPU (32 bit processor) board and run the same firmware. All software features are identical without exceptions.

¢

You can swap a VersaTRAK / Mini-VersaTRAK RTU for a programmable SixTRAK gateway and run an existing ISaGRAF program.

¢

VersaTRAK / Mini-VersaTRAK RTUs may be expanded with any combination of SixTRAK I/O modules.

¢

You may exchange a SixTRAK gateway to upgrade to a VersaTRAK / Mini-VersaTRAK RTU using the SIXNET Upgrade program. Partial credit will be given based upon the age of the unit you are returning.

Why VersaTRAK / Mini-VersaTRAK Instead of a SixTRAK Gateway

¢

A VersaTRAK / Mini-VersaTRAK RTU offers a lower cost for the equivalent function because it includes on-board I/O.

¢

A VersaTRAK / Mini-VersaTRAK RTU offers more communication ports than are available on a SixTRAK gateway.

¢

VersaTRAK / Mini-VersaTRAK RTUs are ideally suited for small sites that require only a few I/O.
