Configuring the IP Address for Each SIXNET Station

Follow these steps to configure the IP address for each Ethernet station or I/O module:

- In the project file for your system, open the appropriate station. Access the station or module configuration window. If you have not previously done so, assign a unique Station Number for the station or I/O module.

- Click on the Ethernet tab. In the Ethernet Setup window observe the IP address. If "Use this IP Address" is selected, the IP address will be 10. 1. x. y. The x and y will represent the station number you assigned. If your system requires that you assign a different IP address, then select "Specify an IP Address" and enter the desired IP address.

- Connect a communication cable (Ethernet or RS232) cable between your computer and the SIXNET station, I/O module or RM-232-SETUP module. From the Device menu in the I/O Tool Kit, select the appropriate device and settings. Download the configuration into the station or I/O module.

After this initial download is performed, future configuration changes can be downloaded over the Ethernet network, even if the station or module’s IP address will be changing. (This capability is supported by most newer SIXNET Ethernet stations and I/O modules. If your earlier SIXNET station does not support this capability and it becomes necessary to change the IP address, you will need to download through an RS232 port or setup module.

More information on downloading can be found in the help system for the I/O Tool Kit.
