Configuring the IP Address for Your Ethernet Card

The Ethernet card in your computer must be assigned a fixed IP address, because SIXNET I/O does not support DHCP addressing (obtain an IP address automatically).

To assign an IP address for your computer:

- Highlight the appropriate ‘TCP/IP \f14(your Ethernet card)’ in the Network Drivers list (WIN95 / 98), or click the Protocol tab and highlight ‘TCP/IP Protocol’ (NT/2000/ME/XP). Then select the ‘Properties’ button. In the TCP/IP Configuration window, choose "Specify an IP Address" and enter the appropriate IP address. (See Choosing IP Addresses.)

- In the Subnet Mask field enter "255. 0. 0. 0". (This value establishes that the Network ID is one byte in length and the Host ID value is three bytes in length. Enter an alternate value if required by your network administrator.

- Leave all other settings blank or at their defaults, unless instructed otherwise by your network administrator.
